GIVING YOUR OPINION ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE!!!

In one of the last english classes we did a kind of circle of conversation and started talking about the Miss Universe 2008, where our Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza won the fifth wreath for Venezuela.

After that, we gave our opinion about college life, so I picked three questions about the topic, and these were my answers:

1. How do you like your university?
I like it very much, there are great professors in here and it offers to all of us the tools for a good education.

2. How many subject are you taking this semester?
I´m taking 8 subjects this trimester, including comunity service, and it´s driving me cracy.

3. What are the top three things you hope to get out of (get as a result of) your university days?
In general, I hope that all the knowledge that I´ve learned in the university help me being a good professional and a succesful person.

HIGH SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY!!!

Well, there are many differences between high school and university. I studied in Claret´s school for 12 years and I can say there´s nothing as my school. I made my best and true friends there.
In high school you don´t have many responsibilities, you´re only thinking about having fun and spend a good time with your close friends. You´re expecting the graduation and the travel you´re gonna make after it.

On the other hand, once you get in to the university, you can see the differences from the beginning. In the university you are the only responsible of your future, and all the decisions that you take are going to influence in it. Also, it´s not so easy making new friends, because everybody is in their own world. Subjects are harder and you have to being constantly studying.

HOW TO DRAW A CARTOON?

This one is a drawing made by myself. It was inspired in Angelica, from Rugrats.

As you could notice in the video watched on July 6th class, it´s not as hard as we think making a drawing, all you need is to pay attention to the instructions and practice as much as you can.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CARTOONS AND ANIMATIONS!

In essence, there is truly little difference between "traditional" animation or cartoons and computer animation; the primary difference is in the tools used to create these animations, the cost and effort involved in the processes, and the quality of the final output.


Traditional animation is a very hands-on process. This requires a team of artists, cleanup artists, painters, directors, background artists, and film/camera crews, along with the storyboard artists and script writers to work out the original concepts; for large-scale projects, the amount of time, labor, and equipment involved can be staggering.



Traditional 3D animation was less "3D" and more still-lifes of claymations done by use of stop-motion filming techniques; the true concept of 3D animation didn't really blossom until the use of computers in animation became more practical. Computer animation removes the need for many of the extra tools required to create an animation; all you need, in general, is a computer with enough system requirements to run the 2D or 3D software application of choice, and people capable of using that software.

-ENVIRONMENT-

Everybody knows that the worst environmental problem is the Global Warming. It´s amazing how far we´ve come. We prefer all the technologycal advances in exchange of the destruction of our planet. People haven´t notice how in danger we are. Since centuries ago, we´ve been constructing a fatal future to ourselves and to the earth and if we don´t change our ways before we even know it it will be too late to fix all the damage we´ve done.

So...what can we do about it?
1)Stop using the familiar incandescent light bulbs and replace them with compact fluorescent bulbs, which last much longer and use only a quarter of the energy consumed by conventional bulbs
2)when shopping for an appliance (a refrigerator, a dishwasher, an air-conditioner)select the one with the highest energy efficiency rating
3)turn off the light when you are not using it.

TITANIC SCRIPT!!

This is a part of the scrit of titanic:

ROSE: Jack, this is impossible. I can't see you.

He takes her by the shoulders.

JACK: Rose, you're no picnic... you're a spoiled little brat even, but under that you're a strong, pure heart, and you're the most amazingly astounding girl I've ever known and--

ROSE:Jack, I--

JACK: No wait. Let me try to get this out. You're amazing... and I know I have nothing to offer you, Rose. I know that. But I'm involved now. You jump, I jump, remember? I can't turn away without knowin' that you're goin' to be alright.

Rose feels the tears coming to her eyes. Jack is so open and real... not like anyone she has ever known.

ROSE: You're making this very hard. I'll be fine. Really.

JACK: I don't think so. They've got you in a glass jar like some butterfly, and you're goin' to die if you don't break out. Maybe not right away, 'cause you're strong. But sooner or later the fire in you is goin' to go out.

ROSE: It's not up to you to save me, Jack.

JACK: You're right. Only you can do that.

ROSE: I have to get back, they'll miss me. Please, Jack, for both our sakes, leave me alone.

1) ESL Podcast 385 – Exercising at the Gym: when somebody wants to start an exercises routine at the gym and doesn´t know how to use the machines, it´s important to ask people with experience or to some trainer of the gym.

2) ESLPodcast 73 - Halloween: one of my favorite dates of the year when i was i child was halloween. I used to disguised as Vilma from the flinstones, and as charmed.




3) ESL Podcast 354 – Being Scared: we´ve all heard the story about the haunted house which your friends challenge you to spend the night. Well... here you got a script about this situation.

MOVIE QUESTION!

On the past class of June 9th, we had to give our opinion about a movie question.

My questions were:

1. Do you watch the Academy Awards?:
Yes, I do. I watch them every year because I´m a big movies fan and I love watching my favorite actors and actresses walking on the red carpet.

2. Do you ever wish you could go to an awards show and dress up in a fancy dress?
Yes, I do. Who wouldn´t want to go to some of the best awards show with a beautiful dress and everyone telling you how pretty you are.

3. Have you ever been to one?
No, I haven´t been to one but I would like to.

Beauty...What is it?

On the class of May 19th, the topic we discussed was "Beauty".

The teacher asked each one, what was beauty for us? My answer was that to me, beauty is everything that makes me happy, and one of those things are being around my loved ones, like my family and friends, and because of the love I have for them, they´re beautiful to me.

Other things that I consider as beautiful are a smile when somebody is sad, hope when nothing seems to be OK and children´s innocence.

Also, we took some questions from a list about beauty and said what we thought about them.

One of them was: Who was the most beautiful person in history? To me, the most beautiful person in history was and continues being Jesuschrist, because of all the things he did for us and the legacy he left.

The second question was: Do you think people should have cosmetic surgery to enhance their looks? I don´t see nothing wrong with people who have cosmetic surgery, because if they´re gonna feel better with themselves after doing it, that´s what matters.

And the last question: Do you think people with many piercings can be beautiful? Of course people with many piercings can be beautiful, specialy for that persons like me who believe that beauty is not how you are externally, if not how your are inside.

In general, I think beauty is not something physical, It´s not about if you´re good looking or not, beauty is what everyone has inside, their feelings, emotions and positive thoughts... all that makes them happy in life.

Science and Technology Class...

The topic of May 26th class was science and technology.

We started talking about Sally Ride, who was the first American woman in space got there. She was only 26 years old at that time and she already had 4 degrees. In my opinion, I think she´s a very influence woman around the world and she has shared her experience with many people, to such a point that she has created organizations to encourage girls to pursue studies in math, science and technology. She´s turning 57 years old today.

On the other hand, we made reference to gadgets. A gadget is a small specialized mechanical or electronic device. We can find many kinds of gadgets, like computers, cellphones, Ipods, cameras, etc. In our days, people are getting used to not living without them and It´s true nowadays they´re a need, but not at the point of having to use them all the time or the most part of it.

Also, we chose three questions to discuss and to give our opinion about.

The first one was: Do you think people should be allowed to clone people or organs of people? Why? In my opinion, I do think people should be allowed to clone organs, because many persons die waiting for a donation, and if organs are cloned, many lives could be saved.

The second one was: What are good and bad points of using computers? Well, good points of using computers could be that you can search for information and to be informed of the most important events around the world. On the other way, bad points are that if you spend too many time in front the computer, you could have problems with your sight and also become a computer vicious person.

And the third one was: How do you think face to face communication differs from communication using computers? There is a huge difference between face to face communication and communication using computers, because in the first one you can tell how the person really is by the facial expressions and gestures. But in the communication using computers the person can fake any personality and make you believe they are someone who they´re not.

What were you doing 10 years ago?

Ten years ago, in 1998, I was studying 3rd grade at Claret´s school. There aren´t specific things that I remember at that age. I probably used to play barbies a lot. I was a great fan of Britney Spears and Shakira too and also I used to dance in front of my mirrow all the time.

5 things you have to do today:

I have to study a lot because I have 3 test by tomorrow. AIso I have to go to the Adolfo Pons hospital cause I have comunity service there; someone is going to tell my group and I what are we gonna do. After that I think I´ll just go home and rest a little bet.

Snacks I enjoy…
I love chocolate a lot, specially the snickers. My favorite snack is ice cream with cereal, like corn pops or choco crispy.

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
I would buy a big house for my mother and my grandmothers, so they don´t have to do anything there because there are gonna be people who help them in everything. Also I would travel as much as I can; I´d love to visit Hawai. On the other hand, I would buy all the cloth that I want.

Three of my bad habits:
I´m not a patience person, so I´m constantly fighting for anything.

5 places I have lived:
I lived in Cabimas for a year when I was little.

5 jobs I have had:
I´ve usually study a lot because I like getting good grates. Also I´ve loved music and dancing.

3 people I want to know more about:
I would like to know more about: Claudia Sudano, Luis Repizo and Jaime Fuentes.

English Level 6, Classmates!!!

Well, in this picture you can see some of the people who is studying english level 6 with me. I am the one in green. I had a sleepy face in that moment. The girl next to me is Claudia Sudano. She´s a very good friend of mine, and we´re stuying the same career. She´s living here in Maracaibo but her family is from Santa Bárbara originally. Some of the TV series that she likes are "Pushing daisies", "Gossip Girl", etcetera.

The guy in blue is Jaime Fuentes. I just met him in this english class. He seems a very nice person. He was born in Maracaibo and rigth now he`s studying electronic engineering at URBE. He´s 19 years olds and some of his dreams are graduate and being a good engineer, making money and start a family when he´s older. He likes music, going out, italian and japonese food and sleeping. He doesn´t like reggeaton and when somebody wakes him up. About english, he thinks it is the most important language in the world.

On the left side, we got Luis, the guy in the white and green t-shirt. His full name is Luis Repizo. He was born in Venecia but he lives here in Maracaibo. He´s only 17 years old and He´s studying Industrial engineering at URBE and business administration at LUZ.

About the two girls left, I haven´t had too much contact with them so I don´t really remember their names... I just met them in this class too.

Well people this is my blog, i hope you like it and get to know me more by looking at it.

These are some things here that you can know about me:

First of all, my name is Luisiana Castillo Morales, but people use to call me Luisi. I was born on April 5th, here in Maracaibo. I’m 19 years old and I’m studying Level 6 of Industrial Engineering at URBE right now.

I love music, dancing, acting, watching my favorite TV series like “Supernatural”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, "Gossip Girl" and “Friends”. Also, I like going out with my friends and my family, chocolate (a lot) and having as much fun as I can. As you could notice from my picture, my favorite band is RBD... I love them!

I hate being around people who are smoking and brainless people too, rock music, drama and cleaning my room.

My dream is, first of all, graduate of Industrial Engineering with good grates and being a good professional. I also would like to study English in the USA and live there if a have the opportunity. I’d love to create a company with my sister and be happy in everything that I do.

About English, I think I’m good at it and that is a very important language and I actually like it very much. The thing is that I have to practice more my grammatical and vocabulary.
